1. *Law Commission* recommended that *gambling and betting on sports, including cricket*, be *allowed as regulated activities taxable under the direct and indirect tax regimes* and used as a source for attracting *foreign direct investment (FDI).*

The commission’s report, *’Legal Framework: Gambling and Sports Betting including Cricket in India’*, recommends a number of changes in the law for regulating betting and generating tax revenues from it.

2. *Union Ministry of Coal* has launched *Coal Mine Surveillance & Management System (CMSMS)* and Mobile Application *‘Khan Prahari’*. The CMSMS and the mobile app have been *developed by CMPDI, Ranchi.*

3.In a first, the *Uttarakhand High Court* accorded the status of *‘legal person or entity’* to the *animals in the state.* The HC stated that *”they have a distinct persona with corresponding rights, duties and liabilities of a living person.”*

4. *Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath* has announced *a ban on plastic* in the state *effective July 15*, days after *Maharashtra* announced *a plastic ban from June 23.*

5. *India* is going to develop *Sri Lanka’s loss-making Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport* in *Hambantota*, which is known as the *’ world’s emptiest airport ‘.*

6. *Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani* launched *’Poshan Abhiyan’* – a statewide mission to *eradicate malnutrition among children* by providing them nutritious food through *Anganwadi centres.*

He also launched *’Purna’ project* to *eliminate malnutrition among girls* in the *age group of 14 to 18*, at an allocated cost of *Rs 270 crore.*
